The training room area where you get an endless spawn of enemies? On Steam/Vive, it was a struggle to survive it. The only part of me that hates this game is my body's adrenal gland. And I'm not even a person who particularly likes FPS games. This is one of the most engaging experiences I've had in VR, and I've been doing VR since the Oculus DK2. The difference the gun controller and the smooth locomotion makes is staggering. I then bought a farpoint+aim bundle, and just finished trying Doom with PSVR+Aim. While I don't mind teleport for some types of games, for Doom it was just too awkward with the fast pace of the game, so I returned it. Then it was released without smooth locomotion. I bought Doom VFR on Steam, thinking that the best experience would be on the Vive with its better tracking.

It's control and some sensibilities have been "outgrown" since its release in 2017, but if you give it a bit of time to re-acclimate to its 2017 really does provide a unique - and increasingly thrilling - experience as you continue through the campaign.Still need answers? Ask the community. I really enjoyed this game - and while it's by no means perfect, it is very much worth playing. This had been in my library, and while I had played it a slight bit in the distant past, Alyx gave me an itch to revisit it. I finished playing Half Life: Alyx about a week ago, and while I loved that game.I was left wanting a bit more gun-play. So when you're reading reviews on here, it's safe to say that the vast majority didn't see the game through to the end (or couldn't, for various reasons). **I just finished the campaign, and it's worth noting that the achievement for completing the game.only 6.1% of owners have. You can re-enable it when not playing & it will work fine.ĥ) The controls are a bit of a throwback to (obviously) 2017 - it will take a bit of time to (re)acclimate to them.Ħ) The game, at least for me, continued to get significantly better as the campaign continued.so you may need to give it a little time. Right-click on the device in Device Manager and choose "Disable". It might not be obvious, but this will save you a lot of frustration.Ĥ) IF THE GAME CRASHES ON START, you may need to disable any other GPU devices on your PC.including integrated graphics devices. Once you get to the next checkpoint, you can up them again. This worked far better than the room scale 'requirement'.ģ) IF THE GAME CRASHES ON LEVEL LOAD, you may need to *temporarily* lower your GPU settings. 1) Even in 2022, don't assume you can blast all GPU settings to "Nightmare" - on an NVIDIA 2080, I still needed to down a couple to keep it 'smooth'.Ģ) On a Quest 2 via Airlink, the game worked great - aiming was perfect, and seated in an office chair the experience was great for rotating and overall gameplay.
